PNG Lewas Continue Winning Form with 31-Run Victory Over Vanuatu on Day 5, PacificAus Sports Cricket Invitational
Port Moresby, PNG-: The Papua New Guinea Women’s national cricket team (Lewas) delivered another strong performance today, defeating Vanuatu women cricket team by 31 runs in Day 5, match 9 of the PacificAus Sports Cricket Invitational at Amini Park.
Batting first, PNG posted a competitive total of 98 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite early setbacks, including the loss of both openers within the powerplay, team captain Brenda Hoi Tau (23 off 25 balls) and Henao Jean Thomas (27 off 46 balls) steadied the innings with a middle-order partnership.
The Lewas added on extra 26 runs, which proved decisive in reaching a defendable total. Vanuatu’s bowling attack was led by Vicky Mansale, who claimed 3 wickets for 31 runs, while Vanessa Vira impressed with figures of 2 for 4 from her 4 overs, including three maidens.
Vanuatu were bowled out for 67 runs in 16.4 overs, struggling against PNG bowlers. PNG’s bowlers applied consistent pressure, with sharp fielding resulting in two run-outs that swung the win back firmly in their favor.
