TEAMS AND SCHEDULE RELEASED FOR THE ISUZU MENS T20 SMASH STARTING ON FRIDAY 9 MAY

Today, Cricket PNG announced the final schedule and teams for this year’s edition of the ISUZU MEN’S T20 SMASH starting on Friday 9th May at Amini Park in Boroko. Cricket PNG CEO, Richard Done, said, “Even with the wet weather making it difficult, we managed to play every match in the recently concluded ISUSU WOMEN’S T20 SMASH last week. Congratulations to the Black Bass who took the honours for 2025.

There were some outstanding individual performances, and we found new and talented players both within and outside Port Moresby.” “So now we move to the men’s event, and we expect to see much more of the same exciting cricket. As part of our desire to recognize new talent across the country, 15 of the 56 players selected in our ISUZU MEN’S T20 SMASH teams come from outside Port Moresby. “ The Barramundis head to Oman in November this year for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia East Asia Pacific Qualifier, after the two regions were combined for this event.

The Barramundis will need to be in the top three teams at that event to make it to the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup. “This men’s event will allow the selectors to see how our current national players from both the Barramundis and Garamuts stand up against the best performers from the 2024 Port Moresby CA, Lae CA, and Central Cup competitions, with selection and preparation for that Qualifier critical.”
